Emerging Artists 2014-15
Supported by The Robertson Scholarship Trust, The John Mather Charitable Trust, The Leverhulme Trust and Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists Benefactors
Scottish Opera has a long history of developing talent; from performance to the creation of new work, we’ve always seen our duty to the future of opera in Scotland as an integral part of our activity. Our Emerging Artists programme gives young artists the opportunity of a lifetime – a period of full-time work with the Company to help them launch their careers. Initially set up in partnership with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to nurture outstanding young singers, the programme now also includes positions for a director, a repetiteur and a costume trainee.
You can hear our Emerging Artist singers performing in several of our operas this season, including Jenůfa, Anamchara - Songs of Friendship and Macbeth. They will also be performing at two recitals during the year:
Thu 27 Nov 1.10pm | University of Glasgow Concert Hall (free entry)
Fri 5 Dec 1pm | Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (go to rcs.ac.uk for more information)
Our Emerging Artist director co-directed Anamchara – Songs of Friendship in July, and will assist on La Cenerentola (Cinderella) this Autumn.
