Audience Feedback 2009

The show was varied and well paced. It was a delight to hear some old favourites and a pleasure to be introduced to some new items, all expertly performed and acted.

What these young performers can do with just a few costumes and props is most innovative, but the true entertainment lies in their ability to draw in the audience to the world they inhabit whilst they sing. We were treated to a breadth of emotions delightfully rendered by the singers.

Patsy Hall, Gairloch

This is the fifth time that I’ve seen Essential Scottish Opera; it’s become my annual must-go event. As a result of tonight’s hugely enjoyable performance (I was the guy in the front row with a constant smile on my face), I went out and bought CDs of the two American pieces that I hadn’t heard before – enjoyable and educational.
Nigel Healey, Banchory

None of my friends believed I was going to see opera in Bathgate, I suppose that's exactly what the tour is all about! There was something for everyone and as someone who has only recently started getting closer to opera; the range of arias/music was magical.

Isobel Lister, Bathgate

This is always and interesting and enjoyable night, but last Saturday's performance was exceptional. The four performers were all very talented musically, well matched and really could act. They worked well as a team in the restricted stage area and used the few props to the maximum effect.

All in all, one of the best ever!

Scilla Aitchison and Graham Phillips, Clashmore

The opportunity to see such an event within a short walk from my front door was not to be missed! It was evident from the start that the cast of young performers were thoroughly enjoying themselves, as well as providing very professional performances. The ability to fill such a venue with the power of their voices, unassisted by artificial amplification, is stunning.
Stephen Marr, Broughton

This performance was an almost magical mix of well-known and lesser-known arias; five young musicians of exceptional talent and boundless enthusiasm performed the songs faultlessly. It was a wonderful evenings entertainment, we look forward to a return visit.
Pat & Steve Broadbent, Birnam

After a miserable few weeks of not feeling good, I was persuaded to uproot myself from my fireside and come along to Scottish Opera's evening at Ballachulish. What a brilliant idea that was! Such vivacity from the word go, the pianist and singers sailed in and took us all on a voyage of discovery in song.

I have never left a performance with more reluctance in a lifetime of theatre going. Bravo Scottish Opera to share these wonderful talented young people with us who can't always get to the big city. Thank you for the best medicine around!
Moira O'Neill, Ballachulish

Yesterday I was lucky enough to see Scottish Opera at the Aros Theatre in Portree, it was a 'BETTER THAN BRILLIANT' evening and I loved every minute of it!

The performers are so talented and versatile and mixed their repertoire so well with humour and pathos when required. I can't wait for their next visit.
Shirley Rowe, Isle of Skye

Absolutely fantastic by everyone! The girls complimented each other perfectly and Joshua and Samuel, as well as singing superbly, showed great versatility and interpretation. The whole evening was very moving and also very funny at times! If we had paid £100.00 a ticket for a show in London it couldn't have been better than the night we had at Ballachulish.
Bob and Jacky Urquhart, Ballachulish
