Costume Hire

Our Costume Hire Department has more than 10,000 items in store, created by our skilled and experienced Costume staff. These items are available for hire to individuals, students, and creative industry professionals such as costume designers, stylists, photographers and artists. Our costumes are regularly hired for use in theatre, opera, ballet and panto performances; for film, television and photoshoots; for educational projects; for re-enactments and special events.

Our store includes a wide range of period dress: impressive Tudor and Elizabethan costumes; elaborate 18th century dresses and suits; a rich collection of 19th and early 20th century fashion (Regency, Victorian and Edwardian); classical, military, peasant, ethnic, ceremonial costumes; fancy dress and unusual items. We also have a large number of hats and accessories.

Our staff are always happy to help you find what is right for your production or project, and to provide advice regarding the history and technical characteristics of costume.

Please note:

• The minimum period of hire is one week.
• There is a minimum charge of £45 plus V.A.T. on any transaction.
• We do not hire shoes or wigs, except under specific conditions. Please get in touch for further information.
• We offer a 25% discount for student or charitable activities.
