Become a Friend of Scottish Opera
Scottish Opera has more than 1,600 Friends all over Scotland and further afield who feel a special loyalty towards the Company.
For as little as £35 a year you too can get more involved and support Scottish Opera by becoming a Friend.
The Friends of Scottish Opera was established to encourage people to attend Scottish Opera’s performances, maintain close links with the Company, promote an interest in opera generally, and to fundraise to support the Company.
Friends receive advance notice of all Scottish Opera’s activities and priority booking of Scottish Opera performances at the Theatre Royal Glasgow, Festival Theatre Edinburgh, His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen and Eden Court, Inverness.
Friends' events are open to all. Find out what's happening near you and keep up to date with Company and Friends’ news. Download our regular Brio magazine here.
Branches
The Friends operate at a local level. On becoming a Friend you will be put in touch with your nearest branch. Here you can meet other people with an interest in opera. The Friends currently have branches based in the Dumfries & Galloway, Forth Valley, Grampian, Highland, Lothians & Borders, Strathclyde and Tayside areas. New branches are currently being set up in Angus, East Fife, Perthshire and Clyde and the Isles.
As a Friend, you will receive:
- Invitations to special events
- Local programmes of talks and trips
- Occasional Friends’ musical events
- Opera Study Days in Glasgow
- Escorted opera trips to the Buxton Festival and Glyndebourne on Tour
- Occasional Scottish Opera open days, dress rehearsals and special offers
Opera Study Days
Every Season we run Opera Study Days for Friends, offering an exclusive insight into the operas that we're performing. They offer the chance to look at each opera in detail and get to know them better. Each Study Day includes a sit-down lunch.
