Share your passion for Opera with future generations
As a charity, Scottish Opera relies on the support of many individuals. Over the years, we have received a subtantial number of legacies ranging from a few hundred to thousands of pounds, and these generous gifts have helped Scottish Opera to flourish.
The Scottish Opera Endowment Trust manages the the money that is left to Scottish Opera. The Trust now needs to grow in order to increase its support of the Company.
Whatever your existing involvement with Scottish Opera, you can make a difference in the future by leaving a gift to the Company in your will.
The Dame Janet Baker Circle
As a special thank you for supporting us in this way, we will invite you to join our Legacy Circle, named after Dame Janet Baker who was in her early career a much loved and respected singer with Scottish Opera. Linked by their passion for Opera, this is a group of people who are enjoying the benefits of a closer relationship with the Company in their lifetime. As a memeber of the Circle, you will be invited to special events, have the chance to meet directors and singers, or to take a look behind the scenes to see how opera is made.
‘Over the years, I have seen the many benefits of the legacies already left to Scottish Opera: from bursary schemes to help talented young singers and musicians fulfil their potential, to supporting the commissioning of new work, keeping the creation of opera alive as a craft’ Dame Janet Baker
All legacies are added to The Scottish Opera Endowment Trust, a professionally and independently managed charity established in 1971 to support Scottish Opera. All capital in the Trust is invested prudently, generating an annual income which is used by the Trustees to support a variety of opera projects.
The Trust’s support has made a substantial difference to Scottish Opera’s activities and continues to enable the Company to produce more opera.
