Synopsis

Playboy Mustafa, bored with his wife Elvira, is looking for a new, specifically Italian, lover. At the same time, Isabella – coincidentally an Italian – arrives, in search of her sweetheart Lindoro, who is working in the service of Mustafa. Mustafa wants Lindoro to get Elvira out of the way, so that he can marry Isabella. Not surprisingly, Isabella is less than impressed with Mustafa. Fortunately she has recognised Lindoro and the couple plan their escape. Mustafa is becoming increasingly desperate to have Isabella for himself. She’s pretty resourceful, though. She makes Mustafa a Pappataci – an Italian custom and great honour, she says. The Pappataci enjoy a life devoted to eating, drinking and sleeping, things that appeal greatly to Mustafa. With Mustafa sidetracked, and a large amount of alcohol involved, Isabella and Lindoro are able to escape. Elvira forgives Mustafa. And Mustafa won’t go in search of Italian girls again.
