Opera Highlights 2014 - What the Audience Thought
See what audiences have been saying about Opera Highlights so far:
Howden Park Centre, Livingston
I really enjoyed an excellent show on Tuesday 25 February. The four singers and pianist gave it their best and I give them 10 out of 10.
Craignish Village Hall, Ardfern
Sublime. Seldom has 2 hours passed so quickly. Beautifully simple, but colourful set. Heavenly piano, and voices which still reverberate.
Bunessan Community Centre, Mull
A memorable evening at Bunessan. The 11 years of living on this beautiful island was matched by the exuberant beauty of the young singers' voices and pianist in an introduction to operatic song. Please come again.
Ballachulish Village Hall
The performance on Tuesday evening in Ballachulish was wonderful. The pianist set the scene with the introduction and all of the singers were on top form. The music was much enhanced by the excellent acting which added to our enjoyment of the evening.
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Skye
My first visit to opera and it was excellent high quality entertainment. The young quartet of stars had excellent voices with amazing projection and range and were a well integrated team of actors. Wonderful!
Gairloch Village Hall
A wonderful evening in every way: four first class and enthusiastic young singers/actors, a good varied programme, and an impeccable accompanist.
Carrbridge Village Hall
Thank you to everyone involved; it was a wonderful performance. I am very grateful for the chance to see live opera in my own village. I really appreciate it and would like to thank you all.
Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall
A thoroughly enjoyable evening in Kirkwall last night: an interesting programme of pieces, old and new, familiar interspersed with ones I’d not heard before, loosely but cleverly strung together on the theme of love. And the singers, not forgetting the pianist, were excellent.
Fortrose Community Theatre
The most brilliant opera experience I have ever had. Thank you for coming and come again soon!!
Morrison's Academy Hall, Creiff
The singers were terrific, the staging and continuity were excellent and the programme was so well thought out. An excellent evening in every way. Thank you.
Midmar Village Hall
The quality of the singing was superb, their acting ability a delight. The programme was for me superb. We had to include our 12 year old grand-daughter in our group rather apprehensively but she was delighted and couldn't hide her new found enthusiasm for opera! Thank you again for taking such a quality performance to us out in "the sticks".
Montrose Town Hall
I attended Opera Highlights at Montrose Town Hall yesterday and loved it. More local events like this please!
Corn Exchange, Cupar
The selection of music was so good and the performers were just marvelous. They were flawless and thoroughly entertaining. In this era of hi tech musical jiggery-pokery, it was great to hear voices without amplification or electronic enhancement. How fortunate are these performers to have such an innate talent, beautifully nurtured and wonderfully employed. Congratulations on producing such a very entertaining show and at a very reasonable price.
Dalbeattie Town Hall
What a delight it was to attend tonight's performance. We are fortunate that singers of such talent appeared in our area, not forgetting the brilliant pianist.
Victoria Halls, Selkirk
Thanks, Scottish Opera for a grand night yesterday at Selkirk's Victoria Halls. The soloists are to be commended for their vocal colour, presentation and fortitude. Bravo, and Brava!
Whiting Bay Village Hall, Arran
The four brilliant young singers sustained a programme of constant activity with unfailing energy and emotional intensity - both sad, funny and wickedly sexy. They left the audience rocked by their sheer professionalism. The script was clever, providing a cogent linking mechanism for a marvellously well-linked sequence of arias, duets and quartets, and the detailed stagecraft was astounding.
Maybole Town Hall
Thank you Scottish Opera for having the imagination to bring this wonderful music into small towns and villages all over Scotland.
Last night's show was excellent, the music, singers and pianist, the mix of familiar and new could not have been better.
East Kilbride Village Theatre
Loved it. Everyone was a pleasure to listen to. The programme was engaging, with some good surprises. The whole evening was a treat.
