This event has now passed.

Join the Scottish Opera Community Choir as they recreate the setting of the Mauchline pub Poosie Nansie's for an evening of song and merriment.

Robert Burns’ and Henry Bishop’s The Jolly Beggars is conducted by Katy Lavinia Cooper and performed by the Chorus alongside soloists.

As a narrator guides you through this world of revellers, you will hear stories from five colourful characters and the irrepressible chorus of ‘vagrants’ that haunt Poosie Nansie's. Written in 1785, ‘Love and Liberty: A Cantata’ – as The Jolly Beggars is also known – was never published during the poet’s lifetime, possibly for its irreverent content!

This 30-minute performance is a chance to experience Burns’ rowdy masterpiece with music by Henry Bishop in the vivacious atmosphere it deserves.
