★★★★★‘...a superb programme which displayed the multifaceted nature of human relationships – love, unrequited or returned, jealousy, rage, despair, misery, heartbreak and happiness – and placed it, surprisingly but extremely successfully, into the setting of an office party.’ - Scotsgay
‘Exceptionally entertaining, humorous, musically and theatrically skilled, intimate and creative. I absolutely loved it.’ - Audience member in Lochinver, Autumn 2025
Water cooler moments, scheming co-workers and the leaving do that some would like to forget! The Office Party is a perfect opportunity to hear extracts from operas that may be new to you, against a backdrop of 1980s nostalgia that may be all too familiar...
We’re taking opera out of the opera house and into halls across Scotland in an intimate, immediate and relatable production in Spring 2026. Four talented singers, including 2025/26 Emerging Artists Daniel Barrett and Kira Kaplan, form the cast of colleagues navigating workplace dynamics and office politics, bringing recognisable workplace scenarios to the stage.
The Office Party celebrates under-rated and lesser-known pieces of music from Die Fledermaus, Pagliacci, Romeo and Juliet and more, including the world’s shortest one-act opera, Barber’s A Hand of Bridge. Audiences can expect laughter and office hi-jinks alongside emotive and tender moments, brought together through clever staging and set design by director Emma Doherty (The Giant’s Harp 2025) and designer Kenneth MacLeod (Opera Highlights Spring 2025)
So clear your in-tray, unplug the desk phone, and book now for an office party with a difference this Spring. The perfect chance to try something new!
