D’Oyly Carte Music Hire Library

Officially founded in 1879, D'Oyly Carte Opera Company brought together impresario Richard D'Oyly Carte, librettist WS Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan in one of the most successful and prolific theatrical collaborations of all time. From Trial by Jury and HMS Pinafore through to The Gondoliers and The Grand Duke, the company gave the premiere performances of all of Gilbert and Sullivan's major collaborations, in performances overseen and co-created with the composer and librettist.

Scottish Opera has worked with D’Oyly Carte Opera Company since 2013, co-producing productions of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado, with The Gondoliers and Utopia, Limited planned for future performances.
