Welcome to our 2026/27 Season

In 2026/27, bringing opera to everyone across Scotland remains central to our mission

We are thrilled to bring you seven new productions comprising the core of our programme: the world premiere of Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s The Galloping Cure, at the Edinburgh International Festival; Puccini’s Turandot and Madama Butterfly; Handel’s Alcina; Beethoven’s Fidelio; Mozart’s Così fan tutte in collaboration with the new Advanced Artist Diploma in Opera from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; and Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel with Opera On Your Doorstep tour.

The Season also includes a return to the Lammermuir Festival with Les Illuminations, celebrating Britten's work; the gala concerts HMT 120 Opera Gala and Night at the Opera!, in Aberdeen and Inverness respectively, and additional engagements by The Orchestra of Scottish Opera.

Some of these works will feature our new Emerging Artists and Scottish Opera's Children’s Chorus, affirming our commitment to opera’s next era. 

Taking opera out on the road across Scotland remains at the heart of our activity. Between our annual Pop-up Opera tour, with three miniaturised operas, and Opera On Your Doorstep, we will be visiting 50 communities, ensuring performances are within reach of as many of Scotland's dispersed population as possible.
