HMT 120 Opera GalaA one-off concert celebrating one of Aberdeen's cultural gems
His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen:
12 November 2026, 7.30pm
This Opera Gala at His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen brings together celebrated voices and a programme of much loved classics for a night of music worthy of the occasion.
In an evening celebrating 120 years of His Majesty’s Theatre, Conductor Harry Sever leads The Orchestra of Scottish Opera and a stellar line-up of soloists including soprano Paula Sides, tenors Sang-Eup Son and Jamie MacDougall with former Scottish Opera Emerging Artists mezzo-soprano Chloe Harris and baritone Ross Cumming.
The first half travels through opera's greatest hits, from the drama of Bizet’s Carmen and Verdi’s Rigoletto to Puccini's Turandot, Gianni Schicchi, and the rarely-heard Edgar. The second half turns to the golden age of operetta and musical theatre, with highlights from The Merry Widow, South Pacific, Carousel, Kiss Me Kate, and Oklahoma!.
Experience the joys of song while supporting Aberdeen’s historic theatre, celebrating classics of the art form in spectacular arrangements for full orchestra. It is an evening designed to honour the theatre’s legacy, celebrate its place at the heart of Aberdeen, and recognise the cultural generosity that has sustained it for 120 years.
