Be a Sport, Spike!

The Video Game

A group of talented students from Glasgow Caledonian University has created a game based on our family-friendly show Be a Sport, Spike!, which returns this summer to celebrate the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

To bring the game to life, the 3rd year students from BSc (Hons) 3D Animation and Visualisation and BSc (Hons) Games Development courses have worked directly with Scottish Opera’s long-time collaborator Iain Piercy, who illustrated the original drawings used in the Be a Sport, Spike! performances.

Spike - the greatest sportsman in the world - finds one muscle he can't flex: his vocal cords. He needs your help! This musical rhythm game follows Spike's journey from champion athlete to unlikely performer.

Can you help Spike become the greatest sportsman of all time?

PLAY NOW

Available on desktop only.

How to play

  1. Click 'Run Game'
  2. Follow Spike's story from start to finish in 'Story Mode', or jump to any of the four stages in 'Stage Select' to perfect your performance: Weights, Cycling, Swimming and Duet.
  3. Press the correct arrow key once it reaches its outline, and hold down the arrow keys that have a line next to them for as long it's shown on the screen.
  4. Can you achieve an A on every level?
