PAISLEY OPERA TO PERFORM NEW PRODUCTION OF VERDI'S MACBETH THIS OCTOBER

Our friends at Paisley Opera have announced that their next production is Macbeth, which will be staged at Paisley Town Hall. The two performances of this new, specially commissioned translation of Verdi’s great work based on Shakespeare’s play, take place on 6 and 7 October, and mark the much-anticipated reopening to the public of this great venue after a refurbishment.

SCOTTISH OPERA YOUNG COMPANY DOUBLE BILL RECEIVES HIGH PRAISE FROM CRITICS AND AUDIENCES

Scottish Opera Young Company’s most recent production – a double bill of Henry MacPherson’s Maud and Kurt Weill’s Down in the Valley – has just completed a successful tour of Glasgow, Largs and Stirling, and has received praise from critics and audiences alike for what Ear to the Ground! called ‘stellar’ performances.

SCOTTISH OPERA CHAIRMAN AND SCOTTISH OPERA YOUNG COMPANY PATRON RECEIVE KING’S BIRTHDAY HONOURS

Congratulations are due to two members of the Scottish Opera family who are recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours this year. Our Chairman, Peter Lawson, who has held this role since 2014, has been awarded a CBE. We are also thrilled that star tenor Nicky Spence, our Scottish Opera Young Company Patron, has been awarded
