Celebrating the life of Emma Kerr, 1987 – 2021

We are deeply saddened about the recent death of Emma Kerr, who was the Scottish Opera Robertson Trust Emerging Artist from 2015 to 2017.

During her time with us as an Emerging Artist, Edinburgh-born mezzo-soprano Emma performed the title role in Ariodante Unwrapped, Dorabella in Così fan tutte on tour, Wood Nymph in Rusalka and Peep-Bo in The Mikado in our 2015/16 Season. In our 2016/17 Season, Emma played Cherubino in the dementia friendly performance of The Marriage of Figaro, and featured in Opera Highlights and Philip Glass’s The Trial.

Alex Reedijk, Scottish Opera General Director said: ‘Many of us remember Emma not just as a talented and dedicated performer, but also as a warm and wonderful person.  It goes without saying that she will be hugely missed by all of us at Scottish Opera, and we share our condolences with her family and friends at this terribly difficult time.’
