Grab a piece of Scottish Opera history at our Props Sale in Glasgow on Friday, 28 August!
Not only will you be able to take home unique items, but you’ll also be supporting a greener, more sustainable future for the arts.
Taking place at Barclay Curle Complex on 739 South Street between 10am and 4pm, the sale will include over 100 chairs from different time periods, household items and miscellaneous props from our productions over the years including masks from Wagner’s Ring Cycle, a 1970s style sofa from Candide and a giant block of ice from Anthropocene, plus much more.
Items are free for our Supporters, Theatre/TV/Film companies and subsidised organisations (charities). We will gratefully be accepting both cash and card donations. Charges apply on individual items for commercial organisations.
Marian Colquhoun, our Head of Props said: ‘Come along to our props clearance on Friday, and rummage through hundreds of props, furniture, household items and theatrical oddities from past productions. Items will be available on an ‘as seen’ basis, with everything from chairs and household objects to masks and wonderfully unusual pieces of Scottish Opera history.
‘The clearance, which has been organised by Emma Robinson, my brilliant Deputy, is about much more than simply getting rid of unwanted props. By finding new homes and new uses for items we no longer need, we are helping to strengthen our circular economy, reduce waste and make our work more environmentally sustainable. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to connect with our wider community and support other creative organisations by giving props a second, third or even fourth life rather than sending them to waste. We can’t wait to welcome everyone on Friday!’
