Former Scottish Opera Composer in Residence writes score for new documentary about Glasgow

Lliam Paterson, former Scottish Opera Composer in Residence, has written the score for a new documentary called ‘A Symphony in Stone.’ Members of The Orchestra of Scottish Opera perform Lliam’s music in the 60-minute programme which ‘celebrates and explains Glasgow’s stunning cityscape and architecture.’

Lliam was Composer in Residence at Scottish Opera for two Seasons. During this time he composed BambinO, an opera for babies aged six to 18 months, and The 8th Door, written as a companion piece to Bartók's Bluebeard’s Castle for the Company’s 2016/17 Season.

Narrated by actor Bill Paterson, the documentary was commissioned by The Planning Exchange Foundation and made by Production Attic.

Scottish Opera board member, Tony Burton OBE, who is the Executive Producer of the documentary, said: ‘I wanted a film to show my friends from the south that Glasgow is a splendid city with magnificent architecture and townscape. I couldn't find one, and so the project evolved.’
