SCOTTISH OPERA TO PERFORM AT THE 50TH PERTH FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

On Thursday 19 May, at Perth Concert Hall, we are presenting an eclectic programme of opera’s most moving pieces to open Perth Festival of the Arts 50th Anniversary Festival.

The performance at Perth Concert Hall will feature singers Eleanor Dennis (The Marriage of Figaro 2016) and Catriona Morison, alongside Emerging Artists Catriona Hewitson, Lea Shaw and Jonathan McGovern, who recently appeared in our five-star production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Conducted by our Music Director, Stuart Stratford, they will perform excerpts from Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier, Puccini’s Gianni Schicci, Massenet’s Werther, and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. Each half of the performance opens with joyous showcases for The Orchestra of Scottish Opera: Shostakovich’s "Festive Overture in A Major" and Wagner’s "Meistersinger Overture".

Tickets are available for Festival Friends from Monday 14 March, with tickets on general sale from Monday 21 March.
