This double bill of ludicrous adultery continues our long-running partnership with Lammermuir Festival.
Director Jacopo Spirei and designer Kenneth MacLeod interpret Ravel’s and Walton’s mini masterpieces for a modern audience, exploring treachery and romance with humour.
This concert staging is conducted by French opera expert Alexandra Cravero. The cast includes former Emerging and Associate Artist and Education Artist-in-Residence Lea Shaw; Chloe Harris and Edward Jowle returning as 2025/26 Emerging Artists, company favourite Jamie MacDougall, and new 2025/26 Emerging Artists Daniel Barrett and Luvo Maranti.
This performance marks 150 years since Ravel’s birth. A lustful clockmaker’s wife must put her creativity to the test, to hide her lovers from her husband. Will she be successful?
A faithful widow is confronted with her late husband’s prominent love affairs and comes to blows with his creditor. Will she have her happily ever-after?

The Orchestra of Scottish Opera
Mention opera and most people think of singing and music – but this is only part of the overall experience. What about scenery, costumes, lighting, direction and choreography?
For those living with sight loss, our audio description service provides a live commentary describing the action on stage without compromising the music. As part of the experience, a recorded introduction to the opera is available in advance and there is a live audio introduction before the start of the performance.
In addition, you can also book onto a free touch tour – an opportunity to go backstage and become more familiar with the set, scenery, props and costumes.
