Ayr Town Hall:
Wednesday 7 October 2026, 7.30pm

Join The Orchestra of Scottish Opera for an evening celebrating the very best of British and British-inspired music for strings - from the virtuosic brilliance of Elgar to Vaughan Williams’ luminous Tallis Fantasia. The concert ends with a moment to savour: 30 young musicians from South Ayrshire Music Service join the professionals for Jeff Moore’s folkinspired Fiddler’s Hill - written especially for this meeting of generations. Composer Jeff Moore travels from Orkney to be there.

Repertoire:
Arvo Pärt
Cantus in memoriam Benjamin Britten
Elgar Introduction and Allegro
Holst St Paul’s Suite
Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis
Puccini Crisantemi
Jeff Moore Fiddler’s Hill
