Our hit production of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers is back and opens at London’s Hackney Empire on Wednesday 30 March, following a successful run in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness in 2021. This co-production with D'Oyly Carte Opera and State Opera South Australia also includes the chance to catch G&S’s Utopia, Limited in a semi-staged concert performance on Friday 1 April.
We are taking a look at all we accomplished in 2021 including three more Opera On Screens, over 200 outdoor performances, over 50 indoor performances and multiple Education and Outreach programmes.
Former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist, Margo Arsane, performs in a new recording of Chausson’s song cycle for voice and orchestra, Poème de l'amour et de la mer. Recorded this summer on the stage of Theatre Royal Glasgow, our Music Director, Stuart Stratford, conducts the French mezzo soprano and The Orchestra of Scottish Opera.
Beginning on 8 February, our new vaudeville-inspired Opera Highlights tours to 18 local venues around Scotland, including in the Outer Hebrides.
