We are thrilled to present the Scottish Opera premiere of Puccini’s epic triple bill, Il trittico, this Spring. Opening at Theatre Royal Glasgow on March 11 before touring to Festival Theatre Edinburgh, this new co-production with Welsh National Opera is directed by the world-renowned Scot, Sir David McVicar. This is the first time he has directed this glorious trio of one-act operas — Il tabarro (The Cloak), Suor Angelica (Sister Angelica) and Gianni Schicchi
Everyone at Scottish Opera is dismayed by BBC Radio Scotland's decision to axe Classics Unwrapped and Jazz Nights, and reduce traditional piping music shows. We stand in solidarity with those across the musical community, who are petitioning to reverse this decision.
As part of our Opera in Concert series, we are excited to present The Verdi Collection, a selection of the Italian composer’s greatest hits at City Halls, Glasgow and Usher Hall, Edinburgh on February 10 and 11.
We are excited to announce that our primary schools production, The Curse of MacCabbra Opera House, begins its sold-out tour around Scotland in February and, for the very first time, is also available for only £100 as a digital only learning and teaching experience.
