We are delighted to have been working with our friends at D’Oyly Carte Opera over the last few weeks to bring the extensive music hire library of Gilbert and Sullivan to our Elmbank Crescent offices in Glasgow, which also houses an extensive library of scores, orchestral and vocal parts.
We are delighted to welcome our talented new group of singers to the 20/21 Emerging Artists programme- Scottish soprano Catriona Hewitson, French mezzo-soprano Margo Arsane, Chinese tenor Shengzhi Ren and Scottish baritone Arthur Bruce.
Scottish Opera have announced plans to collaborate with the Scottish Book Trust on a project for primary school pupils called Arts Alive. A new pilot programme for schools which will be delivered by Scottish Book Trust in 2021 involves all of Scotland's National Performing Companies – Scottish Ballet, National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Following the Scottish Government’s update on 20 August to the routemap out of the Covid-19 crisis, we are thrilled to announce a programme of seated outdoor performances. These include a special production of Puccini’s La bohème and a Pop-up Opera tour.
Scottish Opera's partnership with The Lammermuir Festival continues to grow, and this year – even in our current unusual circumstances – is no exception. This September's online festival programme includes Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared, performed by former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist Nicky Spence. Conducted by Stuart Stratford, the concert performance will take place at Scottish Opera's production studios in Glasgow on Sunday 20 September at 7.30pm and will be available for audiences to watch live online.
