We are bringing a new staged production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel to 34 locations around Scotland this Autumn and next Spring.
This Opera On Your Doorstep tour, directed by Lucy Bradley, is based on the classic children’s fairy tale as adapted by the composer and his sister to entertain her children. Here, brother and sister are sent into the forest by their mother to find food for dinner, meeting many characters along the way - including a sinister witch who lives in a gingerbread house.
The Music Director/Pianists José Javier Ucendo and Alistair Burton are joined by Charlotte Clapperton, Charlotte Jane Kennedy, Holly Teague, Avery Lafrentz, Rosie Lavery, Alexey Gusev, Ross Cumming, Emily Wishart and Audrey Tsang. At each stop on the tour, local children will have a special chance to perform in the production.
The Autumn Tour runs from 8 October to 14 November, and visits Stirling, Peebles, Duns, Maybole, St Andrews, Glengarnock, Seil, Bowmore, Campbeltown, Strontian, Pitlochry, Ullapool, Liniclate, Portree, Beauly, Lossiemouth, and Stranraer. Tickets are now on sale with St Andrews available the w/c 3 August.
The Spring 2027 Tour is from 2 February to 13 March, visiting Greenock, Cumnock, Dumfries, Kelso, Langholm, Linlithgow, Mid Yell, Lerwick, Peterhead, Newtonmore, Arisaig, Gairloch, Kinlochbervie, Thurso, Tain, Aboyne, and Dundee. Tickets will go on sale this winter.
