Tchaikovsky
Heroines & HeroesSelections from Eugene Onegin, Iolanta & The Maid of Orleans
Usher Hall, Edinburgh:
10 December 2025, 7.30pm
For one night only in Edinburgh, enjoy a three for one operatic experience through Tchaikovsky.
Renowned for The Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky brings feelings of drama, history and magic all through his talented blend of characterisation and opera. Creating a synergy of Russian traditions with French and German influences, Tchaikovsky’s distinctive musical voice remains unique and unmistakable today.
Conducted by Stuart Stratford, this opera in concert selects the best bits from The Maid of Orleans, Iolanta and Eugene Onegin, focusing on their unforgettable heroines.
The Maid of Orleans
A romantic retelling of the story of Joan of Arc.
Iolanta
A blind princess discovers the world outside her isolated garden home, where true love awaits in this enchanting opera.
Eugene Onegin
A quietly heartbreaking tale of love at the wrong time. A man and a woman confess their feelings to each other years apart, in wildly different circumstances, leading to heartbreak and regret.
